We purchased the homestead in 2002. The buildings were run-down and the property was quite a mess - littered with rusted
metal from cars, old tires and piles of used fencing. Slowly, over the past several years, we have worked to get
it functioning as a farm again. The farm is still very much a work in progress.
We will be growing a wide aray of vegetables
this year which will be sold at a small vegetable stand that we have on the property and at local Farmer's Markets.
We currently have
around 30 sheep, a few goats and miniature donkeys that graze on the property. We have several fenced pastures and the sheep are rotated
from one pasture to another to prevent disease and provide fresh pasture land.
In the winter, when there isn't
much work to be done outside, the focus is planning for the upcoming season and learning to work with the wool from our sheep.
